LATEST NEWS: Roden Deemed Qualified by CQJ; Benson is Not On September 29, the Dallas Committee for a Qualified Judiciary released its list of qualified
judicial candidates and Russell Roden is the only candidate for Judge, Dallas County Court at Law No. 1 that has been deemed
qualified by the CQJ. Sitting County Court at Law No. 1 Judge D'Metria Benson did not receive the qualified designation by
the CQJ. The CQJ is a non-partisan committee comprised of lawyers and non-lawyers who review extensive materials about a candidate's
background and qualifications and conduct interviews of candidates. The purpose of the CQJ is not to endorse one candidate
over the other, but rather to determine whether a judge or judicial candidate possesses the background, qualifications, and
demeanor to be qualified to serve in the position of judge. Thus, in some races, the candidates from both parties are
deemed qualified, while in other races neither candidate may be deemed qualified. This is the third
general election cycle in a row (2002, 2006, 2010) that Russell Roden has been deemed as the only qualified candidate for
Judge, Dallas County Court at Law No. 1!
